Rube Goldberg

The Rube Goldberg project is an intuitive challenge in which the students use simple machines to complete a simple task in a complex way. In a sense they are to make a complex machine with simple parts which will do something that anyone would be able to do.

Disaster

The Disaster Project is a study of the dynamic forces that shape the earth's surface and how those forces have impacted civilizations, cultures and people.  Students study plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes and create instructional websites that can be used as teaching tools. 

 

Science Fair

Each year, students in grades 9-11 participate in the Technology High School science fair.  Projects can be in a wide variety of subject areas including physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, environmental studies, computer technology and psychology. Winners move on to the Sonoma County Science Fair. Documents related to the science fair can be found here.

 

Thinking for yourself A one page, single space response to one of the two topics is due Friday at the beginning of class.  (Moon landing or alien autopsy)

Environmental Science

The Environmental Science unit focuses on natural cycles, scientific occurrences. Students will also be studying the effect humans have had on the environment via industrialization, and work to develop plans on how to limit or reduce the impact of humans.

 

Chemistry

Kids, don't try either of these strategies in class.

Projectile Motion

The study of the physics behind gravity, energy, momentum and inertia and how these different factors affect the movement of projectiles. 2-Dimensional motion at it's finest.
